Our Love Story

Coco and Sambo

The most frequent question Colton and I get is, "What's your story?" or "How did you two meet?"
Both of our stories are a little different but rest assured I am here to tell you the correct one :)

What most of you probably don't know, is that Colton and Jeremiah served an LDS mission and were companions together  in Macon, GA. They were 'zone' leaders together, and their mission president referred to them as his "best zone leaders"
Elder McKee and Elder Johnston
(I know this is not a mission picture, but you get the idea)

Colton and Jeremiah were super focused as missionaries and never really talked about girls, (from what Colton says) but he saw a few pictures of me  and thought I was pretty cute. **I mean duh, why wouldn't he? Joking. Little did he know...

Months passed until finally both of them were home. (This is where the fun starts) Jeremiah, Allae, and I made a road trip to Arizona, to visit our sister Liz. Jeremiah made plans to see Colton when we arrived. He seriously talked about seeing Colton the whole car ride down to Gilbert. I could tell he was way excited. Colton came to dinner at Liz's house the night we got there. I was helping my sister get everything ready for dinner when Colton walked in...

Keep in mind that I was in a stage where I thought that every single boy I met was annoying, and had cooties. Yes, I was 20 and still never grew out of that. I was definitely not boy crazy, at all.

Colton walked into the Kitchen at Liz's house, and Jeremiah introduced him to me. he.was.gorgeous.
He left the kitchen and immediately I turned to Allae, and told her how much of a hot face Colton was. It was time for dinner and we were trying to figure out where to sit, Jeremiah had me on the other side of Colton. Oh man was I nervous. I had no idea what was going on. I had never felt nervous around people, much less a boy!

Throughout dinner Colton kept making small talk with me. I really didn't know what to talk to him about so I stayed pretty quiet, sorry Colton: ) After dinner we played a lot of games with my siblings and Colton. This is where I started warming up to him more. At some point that night I sent a text message to my brother, who was sitting right next to me [[don't judge.]], and told him to hook a sister up! ( I also told him that if he showed Colton that text I would never text him again -threatening, I know) I think Colton had suspected something was up, because he was "definitely picking up what I was letting down." The night went on until Colton had to go home. I had invited him to go to a water park called Sun Splash with us the next day. He told me he would think about it, and he shook my hand and left, (really colton?)

Colton ended up going to Sun Splash with us the next day and it was a blast! Seriously, so fun. Eventually Colton and I found ourselves floating around the "lazy river". We went around and around and around just talking and getting to know each other. Finally Colton asked me on a date. I think my exact words were "sounds good to me!"

That night we went on our very first date! It actually ended up being a triple date. Colton hooked two of his friends up with Jeremiah and Allae. The date was so fun! We went bowling and then went back to Colton's house to meet his family and play games at his house. His family was so nice! Love them. I must say, we played the strangest game I have ever played. We then decided to watch a movie, When in Rome, to be exact. Colton totally wanted me the whole time, and I'm not even exaggerating. Anyway, after the movie it was getting late and time to go back to Liz's house. Colton asked Jeremiah if he could bring me home, and of course Jeremiah was all about that.

On the way home Colton took a "detour" to a local lake. We walked around the lake and Colton totally kissed me! it.was.awesome.

I saw him every single day after that. The trip was only going to be about 4 days long, but was extended to 7. It was time for me to go back to Colorado. I didn't know if I would see Colton again, or what would happen. All I knew is that I had met the most incredible person, and I had the best week ever.

I went back to Colorado and Colton was getting ready to start up school at ASU. We kept in touch via text messages and phone calls. Colton told me that he wanted to come up Labor Day weekend to visit me! I was so excited! Well, Colton ended up not being able to come for some reasons. After that we kind of lost touch with each other.

A few weeks went by and Jeremiah ended up having to make an emergency trip to Arizona. I went with him not knowing whether or not I would see Colton. Once we got there I caved in and contacted him. That night I met up with Colton. It was so awesome! It was like we had never been apart from each other. Colton says that that was the night he knew he did not want to be without me anymore.

Time went by and Colton ended up coming to Colorado. He fell in love with Colorado (Duhh). He thought it was the prettiest place he had ever seen!  My parents were so interested in who this Arizona boy was that I kept talking about. They immediately fell in love with him, and trusted him- which is HUGE

Colton helped me move to Arizona. I got a day job at Fitness Works Athletic Club, and spent every single night with Colton. Everything was finally perfect

December 21st 2010 Colton and I were engaged.

On March 25th, 2011 Colton and I were married for time and all eternity at the Mesa Temple.

Colton always says how I came into his life at a perfect time. How he knew so fast that I was the person that he wanted to spend the rest of his eternity with. I know that I could not imagine my life without him. He is my best friend and my forever.

And together we are...
Perfectly imperfect.
